TEXT CLEANUP

Remove Duplicate Lines

Paste a list and remove repeated lines instantly.

How this tool works

Repeated lines can make lists harder to scan and work with. This utility removes duplicate non-empty lines from pasted text while retaining the first occurrence, making it useful for cleaning lists, names, keywords and simple data exports.

How to use it

  1. Paste one item per line into the text area.
  2. Select Remove duplicates to trim lines, discard blank lines and keep each distinct line once.
  3. Optionally select Sort A–Z to sort the remaining lines alphabetically.

Example and practical tips

If a list contains “apple”, “pear”, “apple”, the cleaned list keeps “apple” and “pear” in their original first-seen order. Sorting is a separate action.

The current cleanup trims leading and trailing spaces before comparing lines, so “pear” and “ pear ” are treated as the same item. Keep a backup of your original list when whitespace or blank lines carry meaning.

Frequently asked questions

Does it remove repeated words inside a line?

No. It works line by line, not word by word.

Will it automatically sort the list?

No. Choose Sort A–Z separately if you want alphabetical order.
