Random Number Generator
Generate a random number between two values.
How this tool works
A random integer generator picks a whole number between two boundaries. It is useful for classroom choices, simple simulations, games and test data where a uniformly selected integer in a range is wanted.
How to use it
- Enter the lower and upper limits.
- Select Generate.
- Read the displayed number; generate again for another result.
Example and practical tips
With limits 1 and 6, every integer from 1 through 6 is eligible, similar to the possible outcomes on a standard six-sided die.
The tool treats the endpoints as inclusive and swaps the limits if they are entered in reverse order. Do not use a basic Math.random-based generator for passwords, security tokens, lotteries or decisions that require a cryptographically secure random source.
Frequently asked questions
Can the minimum and maximum be reversed?
Yes. The current tool swaps the values internally when the first value is larger.
Is it suitable for security keys?
No. Use a cryptographically secure generator designed for security-sensitive values.
