WRITING TOOL
Character Counter
Count characters, words, sentences and paragraphs, including a character count without spaces.
How this tool works
Character limits are common in online forms, social captions, titles and messages. A character counter helps you see the size of your text before pasting it into a field with a limit.
How to use it
- Paste or type text in the input box.
- Watch the character total and the count without spaces update.
- Use the word, sentence and paragraph counts as extra context, then copy the revised text if needed.
Example and practical tips
The phrase “Good day” contains eight characters including the space and seven characters when the space is excluded.
Different platforms may count Unicode characters, emoji and combined marks differently. This tool uses JavaScript string length, so some complex emoji sequences can count as more than one code unit. If a platform’s limit is strict, check its own counter as the final authority.
Frequently asked questions
Are spaces counted?
The page shows a normal character count and a count without whitespace for comparison.
Why can another app show a different emoji count?
Some apps count grapheme clusters while JavaScript string length counts UTF-16 code units.
