Binary Converter

Convert text and numbers to binary and back.

How this tool works

Binary is a base-2 representation that uses only 0 and 1. In basic text conversion, each character is represented by a numeric character code and then written in binary; this helps learners see how text can be represented as numbers.

How to use it

  1. Enter simple text such as “Hi”.
  2. Choose Text → Binary to represent its characters as groups of binary digits.
  3. To decode a compatible sequence, paste space-separated binary values and choose Binary → Text.

Example and practical tips

In an 8-bit ASCII example, the letter A is represented as 01000001. The tool separates encoded character values with spaces so they can be read as groups.

This implementation is intended for basic ASCII-style text. Unicode characters such as many emoji require multi-byte or multi-code-unit handling and may not round-trip correctly with this simple converter. Binary text encoding is a representation, not encryption.

Frequently asked questions

Is binary conversion a form of encryption?

No. Anyone who knows the representation can convert the value back.

Why might an emoji decode incorrectly?

This simple implementation is designed for basic text codes and does not implement full UTF-8 byte encoding.
